JOHN R. SMITH III APPOINTED PROGRAM MANAGER OF MODELING, SIMULATION AND VISUALIZATION AT RAVE COMPUTER

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (June 27, 2011) - John R. Smith III, a veteran and expert in modeling and simulation management for military applications, has been named program manager of modeling, simulation and visualization for Rave Computer, announced today by Rick Darter, CEO and president.

"John brings a wealth of engineering experience in modeling, simulation and optimization techniques, particularly with respect to defense industry applications," said Darter. "We are excited about the prospect of having him onboard to help develop new systems and update current systems to meet customer needs."

Smith's responsibilities will include managing the development of the company's modeling, simulation and visualization technologies, and acting as a program manager to identify and grow strategic alliances within defense and commercial sectors.

Prior to Rave, Smith served as a senior engineering specialist at General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) for six years as the battle lab manager. Prior to that Smith served in various positions at two major Battle Command Training Centers (BCTCs), most notable was as the lead simulations technician at Ft. Wainwright, Alaska. Prior to that, he was on active duty with the United States Army and was an infantry platoon sergeant and an antitank section leader.

Smith has 10 years experience in modeling and simulations working for the government and GDLS. In 2005 and 2006, he received the "among the best" rating in the top five percent of General Dynamic Corporation and was one of the first civilians recognized for excellence by the Readiness Business Center at Ft. Drum, NY, for his efforts training the Battle Staff from 2001 to 2003. He currently lectures on the applications of modeling and simulations at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Mich.
