Rave Intel Solutions Summit (ISS) Award
LAS VEGAS, Nevada (March 23, 2010) - Rave Computer was awarded first place and recognized as the Intel® Top Innovative Channel Partner in North America for the category of Most Innovative Server/Workstation Solution. The award was presented to Rave Computer and accepted by Karl Rosenberger, Sr. Product Development Manager, Rave Computer, at the annual Intel Solutions Summit 2010. Rave competed against over 300 companies which represent the top 1% of Intel's premier partners.
"Our company has always supported our customers with innovative product solutions and dedicated customer service, and Rave is proud to be recognized by Intel for our continued commitment to our customers," said Rick Darter, CEO and President, Rave Computer. "Throughout our 22 years, our mission is to continue to deliver computing solutions that always meet the form, fit, and function requirements of our customers at a lower price, and that's just what we did with the RR-2755."
Rave's RR-2755, an Intel® CoreTM i7 quiet system that supports high-end double-width graphics cards, was developed for a vehicle simulator application for training law officers in "Vehicle Interactive Pursuit." The customer's software for this project required performance at a high number of frames-per-second to realistically mimic engine speed, road noise, tire skidding, brake application, and collisions with vehicles and other objects, such as signs, road markers, trees, and buildings.
Rave's custom 2U solution leveraged Intel's new Core i7-860 processor and P55 series motherboard. By developing a custom chassis featuring a "green" high efficiency power supply and a temperature controlled cooling system, Rave was able to accommodate the new Intel parts as well as a doublewide nVIDIA GTX285 video card in only 3.5" (2U) of rackmount space.
Additionally, Rave achieved the frame rate of 60fps, a key requirement for the customer. The higher frame rate provides increased realism making the training more effective, resulting in improved behind-the-wheel performance of officers involved in vehicle pursuits. Rave was also able to increase the performance without significantly increasing the cost of the solution, while maintaining the 40dBA acoustic output of the existing Core 2 Duo based solution. This Intel Core i7 platform's combination of high performance, lower power, and mainstream pricing allowed Rave to hit the performance target and deliver the project to its customer within budget.
"We exceeded our customer's expectations with both cost and performance. It's an ultra-quiet system, it takes up half the space of the original design, and the performance is top notch," said Karl Rosenberger.
"We continue to take great strides towards our goal to enhance our leadership in our industry. We're not just a computer company - we're developing innovative products that continue to exceed the demanding needs of our customers," said Dave Nannini, Chief Operations Officer, Rave Computer.

A Fully Integrated and Supported Visualization Solution
Rave understands that visualization systems can be complex to design and build. The necessary integration of networks, graphics accelerators, high-speed interconnects, computing systems and display technologies along with software selection and configuration, can be overwhelming and time consuming. As specific needs and demands arise in the ever changing marketplace of visualization, a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) system often cannot meet all of your requirements.
At Rave, the design process always begins by listening to the needs of our customer in designing customized or modified solutions. Rave's highly trained and experienced engineers, technicians and consultants are known for their creative problem solving abilities and dedication in providing solutions quickly and cost-effectively. Rave's engineering and product development team consistently monitor and evaluate specific requirements often needed within the visualization industry such as:
- Noise reduction
- Temperature and humidity
- Weight
- Stability
- Vibration
- Durability and ruggedization
- Processor speeds
- Image acquisition and frame rates
- 3D visualization, modeling and simulation
