LANSING, Mich. (June 3, 2008) - State Sen. Valde Garcia visited Rave Computer in Sterling Heights on Friday to celebrate 20 years of exceptional business growth. In honor of the company's anniversary, Garcia presented Rave with a state of Michigan tribute, signed by Garcia, the governor and Sen. Michael Switalski.
"This innovative computer company is one of the best-kept secrets of a Michigan business capturing defense contracts and succeeding at it," said Garcia, R-Howell. "Rave is an example of a small company doing great work in a challenging economic climate."
Rave's success can be attributed to strategic planning and collaborating with U.S. defense contract requests, Garcia said. For example, Rave supplies the U.S. Navy with rugged computer servers and hardware and is currently completing work on a prototype laptop computer that can be fully submersed for underwater operations.
Garcia visited at the company's invitation to further promote how Michigan companies are expanding into defensecontract procurement and in response to Rave's interest in using the Defense Contract Coordination Center (DC3).

Garcia developed the DC3 under the 21st Century Jobs Fund to assist Michigan businesses in obtaining defense contracts. The DC3 initiative has undergone tremendous growth, securing more than $315 million in Michigan contracts, and expects to triple this year.
Businesses can receive information on the center and how to obtain defense contracts by visiting www.michiganadvantage.org.
