Military Grade Computers - Engineered to Meet MIL-SPEC Standards
Rave Computer offers fully deployable military grade computing solutions. We provide commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS), modified COTS, and custom-engineered systems that can be designed to meet MIL-SPEC standards, including rugged rackmount, tower, mobile, and small form factor systems.
Rave has over 22 years of hardware integration experience and only offers best-of-breed technologies to the military market. Our successful deployments include: C4ISR, Senior Scout, Radiant Mercury, JCC, HAGS, Technology Insertion, Space Shuttle Crawler, and we fully support land, air and sea deployments.
Custom Design & Engineering
If you're looking for faster, more reliable, lighter, smaller, or more cost-effective military grade systems, Rave can provide proven solutions to conquer any design issues you may face. We provide complete systems from concept design through production with one goal in mind - providing our customer with the most reliable and comprehensively designed and tested systems for their specialized military requirement.
Whether your environment is impacted by electrical, mechanical or thermal challenges, Rave has the knowledge and experience to design a custom solution that will meet your demanding conditions. More importantly, you will have the assurance that your system has been comprehensively designed and rigorously tested for your diverse military grade applications. Learn more about our design approach, process and engineering.
Modified Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS)
Today, more and more government-based organizations are turning to off-the-shelf solutions to solve their project's needs: specifically systems designed for military deployments. The mantra these days is COTS. But is the chassis really meeting the needs of the project, or is it simply the best that can be found? Are you forced to settle because of budgetary constraints within the project? This is unfortunately the case in many instances and often the system specification is reevaluated and realigned with the limitations of the COTS product.
Rave has the ability to objectively assess the suitability of a selected product to the requirements of the project. Whether your challenges are shock, vibration, noise, EMI or any other potential hazard, Rave will evaluate your requirements and determine what modifications are necessary to ensure the product is compliant to your specifications. Learn more about our Modified COTS solutions.
Ruggedization
It is imperative that your computer perform reliably while exposed to extreme environmental conditions. Properly designed systems isolate the performance of the system from external elements to the greatest degree possible, thereby maintaining system integrity and reliability.
Rave has designed systems to survive under stressful environmental conditions such as shock, vibration, dust, liquid, or wide temperature ranges. If your equipment is used in a harsh environment where hardening is required, Rave has the experience and engineering knowledge to design a durable, rugged or semi-rugged system while maintaining sustained optimal performance.
The process of ruggedization always begins by listening to our customer through personal consultation, and compilation of your environmental and hardware requirements. Our design begins from the outside in; with the environmental factors that specifically affect your system.
Designed to Meet MIL-SPEC Standards
Rave will meet with you first to discuss your environmental requirements. Based on the system deployment, we apply our considerable knowledge of ruggedization techniques to meet MIL-SPEC standards for air, sea and ground deployments. We continue to be successful in employing MIL-SPEC techniques with sensitivity to the disparate profiles of shock and vibration, for example, which are present within each of these deployments. Whether your system is modified COTS or a custom design, Rave's "been there, done that" library of knowledge will instill confidence that your system can pass the most stringent standards.
Integration
Rave's integration process begins with the assembly process. Here, the mechanical fit of all components is checked to ensure reliable connections and seating of all components. Compatibility of all hardware and software is verified using diagnostics, and by loading proper revisions of BIOS, drivers, etc. Finally, reliability testing is performed under margined conditions to check system integrity. During the build, ruggedization techniques, gleaned through years of experience, are applied to your specific configuration to ensure component stability. Once testing is complete, a build book is created to document the entire process with photos showing every level of detail regarding the system build including cable routing. With this attention to detail, you'll have confidence that every production system you receive is built exactly like the last. Learn more about Rave's Integration Services.
Long Lifecycle Computer Consulting
Rave understands the importance of maintaining product continuity over the life of a military project. Commonality of components is critical to ensure compatibility between hardware and software and impacts sparing the project as well. The life of a product may extend for several years requiring long lifecycle components. Rave strives to use long life motherboards and embedded components in all its military grade products. Unfortunately, in the world of COTS, there may be components that will need to be managed throughout the life of the project.
Rave's documentation control process ensures you'll know, at the earliest possible date, of any end-of-life component notification that may impact your product. Moreover, Rave will research compatible follow-on products and make recommendations for your review and approval. Early notification is essential so that compatibility testing can be done to resolve any conflicts and to make the transition to a new component seamless. Rave takes the hassle out of managing your long lifecycle products.
