Chassis Slide Installation - 2U through 6U Instructions
Install Chassis Slides
- Each system includes a pair of chassis slides. There is no left and right side. Both are identical. Each chassis slide contains 3 pieces: stationary(outside) section, intermediate (middle) section, and chassis (inside) section. The front of the chassis slide contains a flange bent at 90 degrees with 2 slots. The instructions and the detailed illustration assist with the assembly.
Install Chassis Section to System
(Hardware Supplied with Chassis Slides)
- Fully extend the chassis slide as you pull the chassis (inside) section out toward the front of the chassis slide until both the chassis and the intermediate sections lock in place.
- Remove the chassis (inside) section as you grasp the intermediate section, and press the button lock on the outside of the intermediate slide, and pull the chassis section free.
- Install the chassis section to the side of the system chassis with four (4) 10-32 pan head machine screws. There are five (5) holes in the chassis section. If there are 5 holes drilled in the system chassis, use all except the middle one. Make sure the tab on the end of the chassis section is toward the rear of the system.
- Install the rear bracket to the stationary section with two (2) 10-32 pan head machine screws and bar nut. (See the Detailed Illustration.) Leave the screws loose so the bracket may slide in its slots.
- Repeat this procedure for the other chassis slide.
Install Stationary Intermediate Section to Cabinet Front and Rear Rails
(Hardware Supplied with Cabinet)
- The cabinet front and rear rails have hole spaces of 5/8", 5/8", 1/2" that start from the bottom. This sequence repeats the length of the rail. The recommended installation matches the 2 holes spaced 1/2" apart with slots in the front of the stationary section. (See the Detailed Illustration.) Which pair of 1/2" spaced holes you use depends on the height of the equipment to be installed, and the distance from the chassis slide to the top or bottom of the front panel. Careful measurement is necessary.
- Carefully determine which pair of 1/2" spaced mounting holes to use. Insert a 1/2" bar nut into each hole slot (two in front and two in back on the cabinet rail). Install the stationary section and ensure the front flange and rear bracket are outside of the front and rear cabinet rails. Make sure the front of the chassis slide is installed on the front cabinet rail. The rear cabinet rail is inset further from the cabinet face than the front cabinet rail.
- Adjust the rear bracket as necessary. Secure with four (4) black oval head 10-32 machine screws and black countersink washers. Repeat procedure on the other side of the cabinet.
- Tighten four (4) 10-32 pan head machine screws that hold the rear brackets to the stationary sections.
Install System in Cabinet
- Secure the cabinet to prevent movement (i.e. against a wall) during the system installation.
- With intermediate sections fully extended and locked, line up chassis section (installed on system chassis) with intermediate section. Push in until the 2 sections engage and lock. The next procedure requires 2 people. Depress and hold in the 2 (1 on each chassis slide) button locks on the outside of the intermediate sections to engage the chassis sections, and then again to push the system in fully.
- The system can now be secured to the front cabinet rail with the four (4) holes in the system front panel.
